The biggest issue facing Hawai’i is island gentrification. Wealthy, high-income people and foreign investors are paying increasingly high prices for real estate and other products. This drives up housing costs, land and commercial real estate prices, and all other products and services.
There is a continual flow of lower income people move out and higher income people moving in.
This is the result of an outdated, out-of-control, capitalistic socio-economic system, which is creating an ever-widening gap between the wealthy elite and everyone else. As long as we are tied to this capitalistic profit-driven model, there is not much that can be done.
A solution would be for Hawai’i, and the United States, to conduct a prototype experiment based on Marco Dondi’s “Monetism,” described in his book Outgrowing Capitalism; Amazon-Kindle, $9.99.
Hawai’i would be established as a sovereign kingdom nation with its own monetary system. The United States would be a safety net for both sovereignty and this futuristic democratic, non-capitalistic socio-economic system that could positively impact the world.

As a sovereign nation, Hawai’i can be of greater service to itself, the United States, and the world. Service is of life-saving importance in today's crowded and environmentally threatened world.
Hawaii needs to control immigration and land use rules and regulations. It does not need to be guided by the United States. Hawaii can develop policies better suited for its needs without oversight from the United States. That said, a healthy collaboration and partnership relationship would benefit both Hawaii and the United States and could positively impact the world.
Hawaii's diverse cultural and ethnic population is a valuable asset towards world peace.
Hawaii has never been a threat to another nation, and most of the world enjoys coming here. Hawaii can improve on this by becoming a safe gathering and meeting place for worldwide "Solution Conferences."
In order to survive, we must create and surround the islands with a protective vision of peace, prosperity, and equality.
Hawai'i will remain open and welcoming to all people and leaders who desire personal, national, and world peace.
Previously I've supported Hawai'i as a nation rather than a kingdom. Now I am proposing a publicly elected unicameral legislature and a native elected or appointed king or queen.
"Food is Freedom!" While establishing sovereignty, Hawaii must produce more of its own food by creating cooperative farms on government owned agricultural land, growing vegetables in garden boxes, converting grass lawns to gardens, and planting fruit trees.
Last years state budget allocated 1/3 of 1% for agriculture.
When everything else breaks down survival depends on Hawai'i food crops, not on the mainland or anyone else. This an area ancient Hawaiian knowledge can be invaluable.
