Still relevant - Community-held visions of:
Participatory governance is crucial for the survival of freedom, justice and even hmanity. We can no longer elect, forget, and trust. We need to participate at the grass-root level of Neighborhood Board Meetings. Freedom requires more than a mental idea - it requires becoming involved, only if to attend and listen. Participate!
The United States Government needs to make amends and negotiate a settlement with the native Hawaiian people or simply give it back. Purchase all privately held land based on tax-assessed for the Kingdom of Hawai'i and the Kingdom leases it back to the owner in perpetuity. Money goes first to the property owner's mortgage or directly to the owner if free and clear. The land becomes a part of the revised Kingdom-nation and as stated, is leased back to the owner in perpetuity. The kingdom owns the land.
Farmland owned by the city, state, federal government, and military could be leased at low rates to food-growing communities and coops. Private party food boxes, lawn-to-garden programs, and planting more fruit trees with city, state, and county assistance in growing, harvesting, purchasing, and processing would be promoted.
The federal government could evaluate each island for additional moorages, creating several thousand low-priced liveaboard boat spaces. There would be security, parking, marine supply sales, grocery shopping, and complete bathroom facilities. High schools and trade schools should offer sailboat and shipbuilding, fisheries, and courses in navigating by the stars and ocean currents. Hawaii needs to take greater advantage of its geology, geography, and cultural history. As a Kingdom nation, it is imperative that the citizens learn the ways of the past.
Private, church, and charter schools are divisive. I prefer one public school system with federal or kingdom assistance: Kamehameha Public Schools or homeschooling only, with parents participating as hall monitors and friends of the students. "Together we stand, divided we fall."
In some areas, one million dollars is entry-level housing. Condominiums cost less but have high maintenance fees. If Hawaii becomes an independent kingdom nation, the United States would be obligated to give back the land to the kingdom nation, which means buying back all private land at its current tax-assessed value, thereby reducing the value of existing properties, with the kingdom leasing back in perpetuity to the original owners.
A-I is expected to eliminate up to 40% of the existing jobs over the next few years. Some new jobs will be created because of AI, but not enough to compensate for the possible 40% loss. Therefore, homelessness will increase. Small, 30-40 secured campgrounds sites for the Homeless and another 40-50 for people who prefer an outdoor community lifestyle. Inlcuding community parking, centralized bathrooms and cooking and eating and recreation and gardening areas. Registration and a commitment to participate in general cleaning and upkeep would be required. Residents could register for community projects, like picking up litter and helping out in other areas, with credits going to food cards or car or scooter purchases based on their work. The homelessness would be screens for drugs and alcohol. No alcohol or drugs allowed.
If the most contentious person in the Republican Party got together with the most controversial person in the Democratic Party, without party affiliations, they would most likely get along and resolve any issue. The United States did not start out with two parties; the two-party system has run its course and is no longer productive or relevant. A unicameral legislature does not have party affiliations. Committees are formed, issues discussed, and once a conclusion is reached, the committee secretary presents it to the legislative body. Typically twice. Nebraska is the only state with a unicameral legislature that has been effective since the 1937. I spoke with a courthouse receptionist who stated that the senators to whom members are referred are typically closer to their constituency. There is greater accountability because no other party is to blame for a bill not passing.
Imagine a two-party business model with competing boards of directors or sports teams with two sets of rival assistant coaches. This would be insane, and that's what our two-party system has become.
The United States Military is the greatest in the history of the world, with the possible exception of Genghis Khans's army. Whatever the outcome relating to Hawaii's sovereignty, the US Military has no intention of leaving, and we need to accept that. However, I would argue for the military to replace the Red Hill tanks. Move them up to Schofield Barracks, where there is greater ground separation to the Oahu aquifers. Modern storage systems are much safer than when Red Hill was established. We are presently at a dangerous risk of contaminating and destroying our drinking water supply, which would be devastating.
As mentioned, I would also want to evaluate the agricultural land under military jurisdiction and negotiate a farming use. As a U.S. Senator, I will reevaluate a reliable water and land lease agreement with the military. I am sure there are hundreds of acres they might be willing to give back or allow farming on.
I want to mention that I typically go to the North Shore at least once a week, and I often encounter military personnel in coffee shops and in various outdoor locations, where I have often enjoyed friendly conversations. I feel the thousands of soldiers here are decent, considerate, and respectful.
In spite of the United States history of colonialism, it may be the only country in history that has given millions of dollars to rebuild countries it has defeated in war - to the very countries that started the war. In light of this exceptional compassion and consideration, it should be easy to simply give Hawai'i back and assist with a new beginning.
I began the collage featured picture above 8 years ago for a tai-chi/chi-kung/yoga web site of people I've been inspired by. I added Haunani-Kay Trask after her death. Me in the green t-shirt and white hat. Gregory Fong in a black t-shirt, my tai chi teacher (deceased), Dr. Lily Siou my chi-kung teacher, next to Lao Tzu wearing a black Taoist hat (deceased), Barat Das in prayer mudra, my yoga teacher, Kahuna Hale Makua (deceased) to the right of surfer girl. Haunani Kay Trask (deceased) my teacher of courage for standing up for truth and justice regardless!

In 2022 we surpassed the unsustainable 8-billion people alive on planet earth.
1800, 1 billion (Took 250,000 years to reach 1-B)
1900, 1.5 billion.
1950, 2.5 billion.
2000, 6 billion.
2022, 8 billion.
2055, 10 billion
2090 11 billion
Scientist and author Stephen Emmott concludes in his book Ten Billion, "I think we are F-d."
The world population will surpass 10 billion by 2065. Population experts say it will level at 11 billion and never surpass 12 billion.
This does not and will not work, especially with climate change, environmental degradation, global fires, all leading to global choas.
How will it end?
It will end in chaos, including wars, fires, divisiveness, meanness, disease, hunger and starvation, like we are seeing in the world today!
Capitalism will collapse without population growth. This is why the Supreme Court Republicans, are all being supported by the likes of Elon Musk, the capitalist Koch Brother's and their many organizations, outlawing abortions.
This is why Elon Musk says we need more children to be born. This is why he says we do not need to go to college; he realizes that the more critical-thinking educated will not settle for wealth-leadership, and control.
Intelligent critical thinking is a threat to the true Republican agenda, no matter what they say. Today's Republican Party is the most dangerous organization in the history of the world by denying climate change that is leading to global distruction.
Sooner or later we will all pay and suffer because of over population and climate change and the dying of capitalism. Bill Gates says we need to reduce population by at least 50%. Capitalism and population reduction can be managed with much less distructive results than by denying it.
We must suffer in order to lose weight and we must suffer in order to reduce worldwide population. Acknowledging and creating a scaling down population plan will allow the world to make changes peacfully rather than violently.

* 785 million people lack basic drinking water.
* 2 billion people use a drinking water source contaminated with feces. Contaminated water can transmit diseases such as diarrhea, cholera, dysentery, typhoid and polio.
* Globally about 9% of the world population, 700 million people go to bed on an empty stomach each night. By 2030 it will be 850 million.
* The population of the United States is 330 million, meaning more than twice the US population goes to bed hungry every night and 2-1/2 times the US population lacks basic drinking water and up to 5 times the US populations drinks water contaminated with feces.
IMPACTS OF A WARMING PLANET
• Loss of farmland and drought threatened food supply.
• Rising sea levels with flooding beach side properties.
• Deadly heatwaves and worldwide fires.
• Extinction of plant and animal species."
• Migration of plants, animals and people.
Overpopulation + Climate Change = World Chaos!
We have an obligation to effect positive world changes based on where we are, what we are, and who we are, by acting out in our most natural island nature. We are in the middle of the largest ocean on the planet and we need to take a leading role in cleaning, in advocating and participating in cleaning up all the oceans. Other countries will contribute to the cost and effort. It is about world survival.
One world, one people!....Food is Freedom!....Lawns to Gardens!.... Fruit Trees Make a Difference!
• The world cannot survive with racism. We are human beings first. Our hearts are the same color. We need to learn to live life more from our hearts.
• In the face of rapidly increasing artificial intelligence (AI) we need a new monetary system that provides a Universal Basic Income (UBI) for everyone.
It's possible; read, Outgrowing Capitalism, by Marco Dundi.
