The Platform

The Issues

A platform built on sovereignty, justice, and the future of Hawai'i.

01

Hawaiian Sovereignty

Self-determination is not a privilege — it is a right.

The Hawaiian Kingdom was illegally overthrown in 1893. That wrong has never been fully addressed. Mac's platform begins with a clear commitment: Hawaiian sovereignty must be restored, and it must begin with the Big Island.

Mac is currently drafting a US Congress bill for Big Island sovereignty — a concrete legislative step toward self-determination that no other candidate has attempted.

02

Food Sovereignty

A people who cannot feed themselves cannot govern themselves.

Hawai'i imports more than 85% of its food. That dependency is a vulnerability — economic, political, and strategic. Mac's plan restores local agriculture, protects fishing rights, and builds a food system that serves the people of Hawai'i first.

Food sovereignty and political sovereignty are inseparable. You cannot have one without the other.

03

Environmental Justice

The land is not a resource. It is a relationship.

The islands of Hawai'i are among the most ecologically unique places on Earth. Mac opposes any development — military, commercial, or industrial — that degrades the natural heritage of the islands or displaces Native Hawaiian communities.

Environmental protection is not a policy position for Mac. It is a moral obligation.

04

Native Hawaiian Rights

Rights deferred are rights denied.

Native Hawaiians have waited long enough. Mac's platform includes full recognition of Native Hawaiian land rights, cultural rights, and the right to self-governance — not as a future aspiration, but as an immediate legislative priority.

No other candidate has put Native Hawaiian rights at the centre of their platform the way Mac has. That is not a coincidence. It is a choice.

05

Economic Justice

Prosperity that does not reach everyone is not prosperity.

The cost of living in Hawai'i is among the highest in the United States. Working families, Native Hawaiians, and long-time residents are being priced out of their own home. Mac's economic platform prioritises affordable housing, living wages, and local ownership.

The economy of Hawai'i should serve the people of Hawai'i — not mainland investors and multinational corporations.
